Daniel Cormier: I am a fighter (VIDEO)

May 6th, 2012

Last week, we brought you Josh Barnett’s tale of “I am a fighter,” so it’s only fair to bring you his opponent’s. Daniel Cormier shares his path to fighting here:

Cormier’s path to MMA has been far from easy. After not competing in the Olympics because of a kidney problem after making weight, he stepped away from competition. MMA gave him a place to enjoy competition again. Since his first bout in Sept. of 2009, Cormier has put together an 8-0 record, including a memorable knockout of Antonio Silva.

Does Cormier have what it takes to beat Barnett and win Strikeforce’s heavyweight grand prix? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook and Twitter.

Let it Slide is an engaging, difficult puzzle game

I have a thing for physics games, and I’ve been known to post the occasional platformer or action game here and there. But Let it Slide is one of the brainiest games I’ve posted to date.

The idea is very simple, and far from original: You get a board with pieces arranged in a particular pattern; you have to slide those around until you get the special piece into its target location.

It’s not even about finding out where the target location is – you can just hover over “dim tiles” and instantly see where you’re supposed to bring the special piece. But getting it there is a whole different story.

There are five tutorial levels, which I strongly recommend you do. Then there are twenty “beginner” levels, but that’s really a misnomer. If those are the beginner levels, I don’t want to know what the intermediate and advanced levels look like!

Every time you finish a level you get a score based on how many clicks it took you – each level has a “par” (the minimum number of clicks it could be completed in), and your performance is compared to that gold standard. Because it’s such a brainy game, getting it right is quite satisfying. I was downright proud of myself when I managed to finish a few levels. All in all, quite recommended, especially if you’ve got a few minutes of quiet. It might actually help you focus better later on.

Sprint CEO takes pay cut as investors voice concern about high cost of iPhone deal

Sprint Nextel’s $15.5 billion gamble on Apple’s iPhone will apparently lighten CEO Dan Hesse’s proverbial wallet by $3.25 million this year. That’s how much compensation Hesse agreed to give back to help placate investors unhappy about the high cost of the company’s iPhone deal. Securing the iPhone has already paid dividends for Sprint in terms of sales. The company sold 1.5 million iPhones in the first quarter while posting a net subscriber growth of 263,000. That didn’t stop Sprint from posting an $863 million net loss during the same period, however, causing some investors to grumble about the cost of subsidizing Apple’s phone. The subsidy Sprint pays for each iPhone is 40 percent higher — about $200 — than what the company pays for other competing devices. Don’t feel too bad for Hesse, though. Apparently, the financial gesture basically brings back his “compensation target opportunities” to 2010 levels.

Hey guys I've been painting an engine gloss orange. I've done two coats so far and it still looks really light on. It's gonna need about 5 coats to get the full colou. Is this normal or is the paint I'm using? I am using humbrol tinned paint brushing it on to.
